YLIP Recruitment 2020 Promotional Videos The Canadian Bar Association’s (CBA) Young Lawyer International Program (YLIP) was accepting new applicants for the 2020-2021 YLIP placements. The original plan for this project was to highlight a different aspect of the program over a three month campaign (February to April). Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, some of this campaign was put on hold. To make these videos possible, CBA purchased some templates that could be used in Adobe After Effects. The audio in all the videos was found on the YouTube’s audio library. February – International For the first month of the campaign, we wanted to highlight that the program is an international placement. This is also when we start highlighting Instagram Takeovers that are hosted from current YLIP interns. I created these videos in Adobe After Effects using a 3D globe template. For the general videos, I created paths that linked where all the YLIP 2019-2020 interns were from in Canada. I made all the paths join in Ottawa and then they went to the different cities the interns were placed for their internships. These videos were used on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I also used the same template to create individual videos to be used on the CBA’s Instagram stories to highlight the upcoming takeover host. These videos followed a path from the host’s hometown to the location of their placement. At the end of the video I put the name of the host, where their placement is and the date of their takeover. These videos were used to highlight all the takeovers for the entire campaign. Below are the general videos (one English and one French) we used throughout this portion of the campaign. The English general video https://www.youtube.com/embed/IH4emZ_IcQU The French general video https://www.youtube.com/embed/1WCwFrDq45A March – Experience For March we wanted to highlight hte experience of the interns. we had a couple of interns from the 2019-2020 cohort submit photos highlighting their experiences working in a new country, travelling, culture, etc. I then put these images into a mosaic template purchased by CBA. The English experience video https://www.youtube.com/embed/VGhzwBytCVQ The French experience video https://www.youtube.com/embed/5gTLTkkD61s April – Why should I sign up? This portion of the campaign unfortunately did not get done due to COVID-19. This portion of the campaign was meant to highlights from interviews of the current interns discussing their experiences and what made then apply as well as what they loved about the experience.
Annual General Meeting 2019
Annual General Meeting 2019 Promotional Videos This is a video of Tamra Thomson, the CBA (Canadian Bar Association) Resolutions Queen. It was created to remind CBA members to submit, debate and vote on resolutions being discussed at the 2019 Annual General Meeting. After recording the video, I took the files into Adobe Premiere Pro to edit. I sliced some of the takes to make them as seamless as I could with transitions showing the website pages being talked about in the video. For the French video, some of the audio had to be recorded separately. Once this was done, I brought it into Adobe Premiere Pro. I synced what I could up with the visual of Tamra speaking, but the rest was used with the website visuals. Mighty Gum Pack
Mighty Gum Pack 60 Second Commercial https://player.vimeo.com/video/87532200 This is a sixty-second commercial created in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 for my Audio and Video course. I filmed the footage with two of my classmates and I edited the video. We wanted the commercial to have a 1920’s feel. We dressed to match the era as best we could and I edited the video to be in black and white but we kept the gum pack in colour to add importance and focus being the gum. Before we filmed we created a storyboard to keep ourselves on track while filming and to make sure we have the timing of each clip right since the video had to be 60 seconds exactly. The original ending for this commercial was for the bad guy to get caught at the end but while we were filming, the gum pack fell out of my blazer and we could not find it. This clip was a blooper but ended up being our favourite. Because we wanted to include it so much, we had to record some more scenes of the lady at the bar to make it appear as though she got hold of the gum pack instead. Overall I am proud of how this one turned out but if I were to do this project again I would make the following changes: I would make the time of the small clips at the beginning quicker giving a snappy feel and/or I would add some transitions between each clip Find filming locations that allow the scenes to continue seamlessly from inside to outside
